The project covers full-scale dyke construction, starting with site preparation, including clearance, grubbing, cofferdam construction where necessary, topsoil stripping, and disposal of unsuitable materials. Works include excavation of the core trench, treatment of existing ground and dyke bed materials, formation of the dyke embankment using approved materials, and preparation of the dike surface. It also entails constructing drainage structures, such as concrete culverts and open drains, and excavation, transportation, and placement of a 150 mm thick gravel wearing course to form the carriageway.
